Sunday Job Descriptions

Ushering:

Plan to come 30 minutes before worship. Hand out bulletins and welcome worshipers with a warm and honest greeting. If you don’t know someone, introduce yourself (people are usually nice, but if they are not, don’t take it personally). You will be responsible for taking the offering (and bringing it to the altar when it’s collected). You will also let people know when they can go up to communion. Please take a headcount and write it on the Usher’s Sheet.

Serving coffee, lemonade, cookies and bars following worship on Sunday (For the school year):

About six dozen homemade or store-bought cookies or bars are served during the school year (September – May).  Coffee is served in the Fellowship Hall, downstairs from the Sanctuary using the church’s coffee mugs and plastic cups.  You may use the dishwasher to clean up at the end.  Coffee should be prepared and goodies set up before the 9:00 a.m. worship service begins.  Directions for making coffee are posted near the coffeepot.  About 80 cups of coffee are needed during the school year.  Three pitchers of lemonade are needed September – May.  At the end, please clean the serving area; including the pitchers, glasses, cups, coffeepot and whatever dishes may have been used. There are instructions on the dishwasher if you need to use it.

Acolytes

Please plan to come 15 minutes before the service and pick out an alb (white robe thingies). You will light candles, help with communion, and perhaps some other things. Look to Pastor Kayla and Kris for directions during the service. Acolytes who will be doing it for the first time will receive the training necessary to be prepared.

If you cannot come and serve on your appointed day, please find your own substitute and please let the office know by Thursday.
